Today, we took Grayson to his 2 month check-up. We weren’t looking forward to it because he was to get his first immunizations at this visit.
Fortunately, Ray was able to take off from work to go to this appointment with us. Him going with us is easier and more fun. And when Dad comes along, he’s the one that helps hold Grayson still, comforts him after being poked and prodded at, etc…and today was no exception.
Our boy did an awesome job with his shots! He first got mad when the nurse pinned his legs (he likes them free to kick about). And of course, those sticks in his legs stung. Poor baby. But Grayson stopped crying as soon as his dad picked him up. The doctor warned us his legs will probably be sore and he might have a fever for 1-2 days. Gray enjoyed the ride home. He loves motion! It is when we have to stop at a red light that he gives us a “Hey, what is going on?” look! :)
Our monkey man isn’t quite 100%, but he’s had a very good day despite those stupid shots. To ensure he feels the best possible, we have infant Tylenol on hand and are giving him extra love and attention.
So, do you want to hear his stats? GKT weighs 16 lbs, 6 oz. and is 25 ¾ inches long. His doctor said he is growing a lot, looks great, and that Ray and I are doing a wonderful job! :)
Several people have asked us what percentile Grayson is for his age group. We haven’t ever remembered to ask until today. The nurse smiled and said, “Off the charts! He’s off the charts in height and weight!” Ray and I both smiled but probably looked a little confused. She said, “He’s well over 100% – in height and weight”.
We have no idea why Grayson is such a big guy. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked if I am diabetic (women with diabetes have larger babies). All my levels were great throughout my entire pregnancy. Grayson got his big head from Ray (he had a big head when he was born). Maybe he gets his long length from the Barksdales...who knows. And of course, he has to have a body size that matches his length.
We have not and will not tolerate any derogatory comments about Grayson’s size from ANYONE – friends, family, or strangers for that matter. Our boy is larger than other guys his age. That is a fact. We think it is funny that his grandpa (Ray’s dad) calls him “the gigantic baby” and that his great-uncle (my Uncle Rick) always says our boy is a fella of good size when babies usually disappear in his big hands! Grayson is our big, sweet, handsome – absolutely perfect hunk o’ love! :)

He is absolutely perfect in every way! He is a doll! And yes, Mommie and Daddy are doing a wonderful job just as I knew you would! What a great family I am blessed to have!
Shots are no fun. I'm glad he did okay with them...and that Ray was able to be there with you and Grayson. He is adorable... I can't imagine anyone would make a derogatory comment about his size!
