There were a few people that asked us what we were going to do with our dogs and cat when we had our baby. That is a dumb question coming from anyone who knows us at all. We never anticipated any problems from Mya, Hobbes, Daisy, or Yoshi. But we knew that anything was possible. If we ran into any problems, we agreed to put forth our best efforts to make things work. Needless to say, Grayson is our #1. But at the same time, Mya, Hobbes, Daisy, and Yoshi are our children too. We definitely expected certain adjustments having to be made on everyone’s part, including the animals’. That is just how things work. But getting rid of any of our animals simply to make things more convenient for us is absurd! I mean, if we have another baby, we will not get rid of Grayson if he has a hard time adjusting! ;)
Now that Grayson has arrived, we’ve been asked what the dogs and Yosh think. We predicted Daisy and Hobbes would be protective of him, Mya would be afraid of him, and Yoshi would be uninterested. Daisy, Hobbes, and Mya really like him and look so concerned when he cries. Daisy is very interested in him, but she believes in giving him his space (just as she enjoys her own space). Hobbes, on the other hand, shows his interest and concern by sitting right next to the person holding Grayson. I think that is Hobbes’ way of declaring Grayson as his buddy! :) Mya is not at all afraid of him. And she isn’t at all shy about coming close to him to check him out. What Ray and I find so funny is that Mya cannot look at Grayson enough! She even goes to new heights to get the best view of him (literally)! Since he has been home, she’s discovered that sitting on the arm of the couch or sitting IN a basket full of clean clothes on the couch allows her to get a better look. She looks at him with such interest. But it is obvious that her look is also one of admiration. It is so sweet. Oh and all the dogs like to sniff Grayson’s hair. They say that Grayson is not only interesting and cute, but he smells good too! :) And Yoshi, well, believe it or not, he was Grayson’s first friend. When we first came home from the hospital, I surrounded myself with pillows on our bed to protect my incision and assist me with holding Grayson. Yoshi laid next to us. Yoshi seems to like me more, thanks to Grayson. :)
