the rules are pretty simple...

.
The above are the rules for our couch.
.
NO standing, NO walking, and NO running!
.
Couches are for sitting and laying down.
.
We've told Grayson this AGAIN and AGAIN. We know he understands.
.
Still, he cannot resist the urge to stand up on and walk or run from one end of the couch to the other.
.
Incase you are wondering, yes, he has fallen a time or two because he did what he wanted to do. Fortunately, his falls were a very scary surprise rather than an injury.
.
If you want to know the truth, his Dad is the one that first taught him how to stand on the couch. As a matter of fact, Ray taught him how to run across it while holding his hand. In Ray's defense, this was when G was first learning how to walk real well. HOWEVER, what he learned stuck with him. That was his "okay" for standing on, walking on, and running on the couch. That is the day he decided those things were really fun!
.
So, now, we have to watch Grayson VERY closely. One minute he's on the floor watching Barney and the next minute he's running across the couch! He is F-A-S-T!
.
Last night, while I was finishing up eating my supper, Ray was watching Grayson. He was sitting with me, but it was him that was facing G's direction and watching his every move. I really enjoyed being able to sit there for a few minutes without having to get up. Ray, however, had to get up at least 15 times to tell Grayson to sit down or walk over and make him sit down. Thank goodness my chair was facing the opposite direction because I had a hard time keeping a straight face. Ray would see our little guy standing, walking, or running on the couch with a HUGE smile on his face. That was followed by "Grayson! NO!" or Ray having to physically walk over there, tell him NO, and pull his legs to make him fall down on his rear end. Grayson KNOWS he isn't supposed to do this. It is just something he really thinks is fun...and because he was given the unofficial "okay" to do it a while back, I'd be lying if I said I don't understand why he does it.
.
You just had to see that big smile on Grayson's face as his Dad said "NO!" and the dancing sparkles in his eyes as his dad walked over to sit him down. It was so cute. :)
