Well we finally did it... we got a mini-van! The Americana Family Nucleus transformation is now complete: we live 40 miles out from the city in a suburbia, have 2 children, dogs, and a mini-van. All we need are some white picket fences and a welcome home sign on the front door :-).
Ever since we had Zander, we have been pretty cramped in the Rav4. Especially with Tish trying to recover, it is extremely hard to scoot the front seats all the way up to allow the carseats to fit. Even then, we did not have plans to buy a new vehicle. We were certainly enjoying not having a note (both cars paid off). Until the day I got into an accident and totaled my other car (Protege). It was a no brainer that the new vehicle needs to have plenty of space to fit the carseats. Originally, we had our eyes set on the Ford FLEX and the Honda Pilot. After driving the FLEX, we realized that it was piece of junk. The Pilot drove nice, but it was a little truck like for our taste. So we switched our focus (foci?) onto some mini-vans: Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna. We each drove each van multiple times, asked tons of questions, and did lots of research. At the end, we decided that the Honda was the way to go. Besides, we were literally "talked into" buying it by my mom and a friend of ours (you know who you are) ... You'd think they own stocks in the company of something!
We decided since that this vehicle is going to be our "home away from home", we'd get one that is exactly the way we want it. We got the leather interiors so that it'd be good for cleaning and comfort. It has a sunroof and also an entertainment system for G. The power sliding doors and lift gate will help Tish a lot when she is by herself with the kids. We think that all of these nice features will pay off in the long run, especially for those long trips to Louisiana.
As we have talked about before, Grayson is not a man fond of changes... for example, we have been rotating the same 2 Barney videos for the last 4 months! Well how do u think he did when we tried to show him the new cool van we just got?!
